A Moment of Cultural Connection written by Wakeoe Shrine

A Moment of Cultural Connection written by Wakeoe Shrine

The other day, we had the pleasure of welcoming two visitors from Austrailia to our shrine, where they joined our Miko and Shito priest experience.

Wearing traditional Miko and priest attire for the first time, they were smiling throughout, happily taking photos and enjoying every moment. It was truly heartwarming to see their genuine excitement.

One of the guests had previously studied Japanese, and she expecially enjoyed the Shanorito (Norito transcription) experience, carefully and throughtfully engaging with each word.

During their visit, they also shared insights about Aboriginal culture in Austrailia, which gave us a valuable opportunity to learn from their traditions as well.

Being able to share Japanese culture while also learning about the culture of our guests created a meaningful and enriching cultural exchange.
It was a truly enjoyable and memorable experience for us as well.

We sincerely hope to continue being a place where people and cultures can connect.
