Rie Asai

Profile

Profile

Rie made her stage debut at the age of three and began her career in the entertainment industry as a child actress.
Since then, she has garnered attention through numerous appearances in the media, including NHK's "Hogaku no Hitotoki", Byron TV in Cambodia, "Gigei Seizui ~Aichi no Esprit~", a cultural feature produced by Aichi Prefecture and Fujin Gaho's "Beautiful Kimono".
Her talent as a composer has also gained international acclaim. Her own work, “Annei no Inori” resonated deeply with her audience and has become a signature piece, leading to numerous opportunities to perform overseas.
To date, Rie has performed at a variety of historical venues both in Japan and overseas, including the UNESCO World Heritage listed St. Stephen’s Cathedral (Austria), and Izumo Taisha, Asakusa Shrine, and Tsubaki Grand Shrine in Japan.
She continues to spread messages of prayer and peace through music.
She has also had the honor to have a prayer audience with His Holiness, Pope Francis, the 266th Pope. Rie has performed in over 15 countries, including the Cambodian Arts and Culture Festival to commemorate the 60th anniversary of ASEAN, a performance at the Vienna State Opera to celebrate the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Austria, and a performance at the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls in the Vatican, highlighting her record as an international artist.
The foundation behind her talent lies in studying under her mother, Tamiko Asai, head of the Ikuta School of Koto Chikage and recipient of the Aichi Prefecture Cultural Merit Award, through whom she has inherited and honed this solid musical tradition.
Her approach, balancing both music and academic pursuits, is reflected in her achievements, which include a Master of Business Administration (MBA with distinction) from the University of Wales Graduate School of Management and in her research at the Graduate School of Education, University of Tokyo.
Rie is also active as a NPO fellow at the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership, and has received the "Human Power Award, Minister of Foreign Affairs Award" from the Japan Junior Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
